Travel Demand Model (TDM)
Summary: A Travel Demand Model (TDM) is a helpful tool in projecting future traffic demand, and current and forecasted roadway capacity. An updated KTMPO model was completed in summer of 2023. KTMPO with CDM Smith developed the new forecast 2050 scenario within the Killeen-Temple TexPACK scenario manager and made necessary changes to the existing forecast applications based on the latest available information obtained from the prior tasks of this project. This work involved developing and updating the Traffic Analysis Zone (TAZ) structure, TAZ-level demographics, and the modeled roadway network for the year 2050.
KTMPO is currently undertaking a new Travel Demand Model update as part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining accurate and reliable transportation forecasting tools. This effort will incorporate updated demographic, employment, land use, and transportation network data to support future planning activities and is anticipated to conclude in 2028.
